ALOHA FROM THE SHEPLERS

Let us first say that we are VERY grateful for all of you who are a part of this journey with us. Truly we would not be where we are if it wasn't for the prayers, finances and friendships that have created an amazing foundation for our decision to enter into full-time missions. Truly, may the Lord bless each one of you.

VISITING MY PARENTS

The first leg of our journey included a mad dash to empty out our house (which we sold) and fly to North Carolina to visit Greg's parents. We hiked, we played pickle ball in the street, we ate great good, and genuinely enjoyed our time there. The days were numbered, though, and on September 30 we left for Hawaii; a door-to-door journey that took nearly 22 hours.

ORIENTATION

The first few days here were truly special. You see, we are visitors to this land, and as such we were welcomed in by locals who performed a welcoming ceremony for the entire DTS. (On that note: the Fire and Fragrance DTS that we are a part of is 300+ people. It's the largest in YWAM history, and it's WILD.)

There are endless opportunities here for our family, but especially for Ellis. It took only one breakfast time for us to have made life-long friends with another family here. This family has a son Ellis' age and they are inseparable.
Right outside our room is a playground that always has kids on it, so we're constantly meeting new folks.

The day after we arrived there was a 2-hour class time for Ellis in his Foundation School. Both Saturday and Sunday morning Ellis would tell me, "I'm so excited to go to school today!" - and I had to explain to him that it was the weekend, and that there was no class. He nearly cried both times, and couldn't wait for it to be Monday.

WEEK ONE: COMPLETE

It is hard to explain all that has already happened in the first week. Between settling in, work duties, covid testing, changing schedules, worship nights, ministry nights, exploring town, and a myriad of other activities, it has been a full-on week here and we. are. loving. it. We even had a surprise encounter with Steve Fry, who happened to be here as a guest speaker for the Crossroads DTS. (For those who dont know Steve Fry, he is the man who ordained me, so it was a special treat to see him).

And there ya have it. That is the most concise way we can give all that has happened this week. We try our best to keep our newsletters short, so that they are easily digestible. There will be times when we have much more to say and when that happens we will provide a link to our blog so you can read a more in depth story.

So Aloha for now, let this e-mail encourage you all that we have arrived safely and are doing very well.

May you bless all of those who support us in prayer and in finances. Pour out your Spirit on them and bless them. May their households find peace and their relationships thrive. In Jesus Name, Amen.
